چکیده

The electrical resistivity, Hall coefficient, and thermopower as functions of temperature are reported for lightly electron-doped Ca1−xLaxMnO3 0 x 0.10 . Unlike the case of hole-doped ferromagnetic manganites, the magnitude and temperature dependence of the Hall mobility H for these compounds is found to be inconsistent with small-polaron theory. The transport data are better described by the Feynman polaron theory and imply intermediate coupling 5.4 with a band effective mass m* 4.3m0 and a polaron mass mp 10m0.

Influence of the Grain Size on Polaron Transport in Nanostructured La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 Evidenced by EPR

We report an electron paramagnetic resonance investigation of the grain size effects on the polaron transport in the paramagnetic regime of nanosized La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 manganites. The temperature dependences of the EPR integral intensity were analyzed in terms of spin–spin exchange interaction and small polaron hopping scenarios. The polaron activation energy decreases with the reduction of the gr...

Electric pulse induced resistance change effect in manganites due to polaron localization at the metal-oxide interfacial region

Combining pulse-probe measurements as well as local transport measurements in an electron microscope system by a simultaneous monitoring of the structural changes, we show that the nonvolatile electric pulse induced resistance change in Ca-doped praseodymium manganite is related to a polaron order-disorder transition, modified by electronic band bending in the vicinity of an interface to a meta...

Optical conductivity of manganites: Crossover from Jahn-Teller small polaron to coherent transport in the ferromagnetic state

We report on the optical properties of the hole-doped manganites Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3, La0.7Ca0.3MnO3, and La0.7Sr0.3MnO3. The low-energy optical conductivity in the paramagnetic-insulating state of these materials is characterized by a broad maximum near 1 eV. This feature shifts to lower energy and grows in optical oscillator strength as the temperature is lowered into the ferromagnetic state. It r...

Polaron melting and ordering as key mechanisms for colossal resistance effects in manganites.

Polarons, the combined motion of electrons in a cloth of their lattice distortions, are a key transport feature in doped manganites. To develop a profound understanding of the colossal resistance effects induced by external fields, the study of polaron correlations and the resulting collective polaron behavior, i.e., polaron ordering and transition from polaronic transport to metallic transport...

Zener polaron ordering variants induced by A-site ordering in half-doped manganites.

We have studied the magnetism of the half-doped charge ordered manganite YBaMn2O6. A formation of ferromagnetic plaquettes of four Mn atoms in the charge ordered phase below T_{CO} approximately 480 K is inferred from high temperature magnetic susceptibility data and the magnetic structure, as determined by neutron powder diffraction at T=1.5 K. The results indicate that new fourfold Mn paramag...
